A type of advertisement that automatically opens “pops up” within a new window in the browser to display some ad. This may also be seen in the form of a “pop-under” ad, which is slightly less intrusive. Most internet users don’t like these interruptive approaches to advertising and it’s why they tend to ignore them. There are a number of stand-alone and browser-based software that exist just to block these ads.
